Many businesses are now taking advantage of a range of social media to engage with customers and the public – blogs, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn are all commonly used. It is important to understand the nature of social media and the inherent risks. There are many myths surrounding legal and liability issues. This seminar looks at the genuine legal and business risks associated with such activities and offers tips and hints for companies to reduce and mitigate such risks

Sherree Westell is a practising solicitor specialising in digital media, IT and IP law with many years of experience. She advises a range of clients from start up companies to international brands from a variety of industry sectors. Recent projects have included advising on an online news and content distribution services, the set up and operation of several online communities as well as advising organisations on their social media policies.
